Sermon: October 18, Steve Keller
Today’s message focuses on the central truth that, because God is with us in all things, we always have hope. God’s definition of hope is not wishful thinking that everything will work out, nor is it us choosing to have a “glass half full” perspective on the situations and circumstances of life. Instead, God defines hope as believing and trusting that every promise he has made will come to pass in our lives as we walk with Him. Hope is an inner knowing and resolve that God will bless us because it is in His heart to bless. This blessing requires two things from us: First, we are his children and we have accepted and received Jesus Christ as Lord. Paul makes this clear in Ephesians 2:12-13 which says, “Remember that at that time (before salvation) you were separate from Christ, excluded from citizenship in Israel and foreigners to the covenants of the promise, without hope and without God in the world. But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ.” Second, God to bless those who walk in his ways…who do what is right in his eyes.
