Breathtaking
Joni and I just got back from spending time in New England (Cape Cod) for about 9 days. Cape Cod is in Massachusetts and its one of the most beautiful places we’d ever seen. The Atlantic Ocean is on one side. The Bay is on the other side. Lush, rolling, green hills abound. Old, New England style homes are scattered throughout the countryside. Stone walls and white picket fences divide properties in the most beautiful way. The sunsets are unparalleled. Seals swim up as you walk on the beach. 60 foot whales gather around as you sail out into the ocean. And the waves crash against large rocks out in the ocean. One of our favorite spots is depicted in the painting above. It was truly breathtaking.
The landscapes and the creatures are absolutely amazing. And we shouldn’t be surprised at how amazing they are because they were created by an amazing God. God’s Word is very clear that His creation actually teaches us about Him and what a beautiful, powerful, amazing God He is. In Psalm 19, David writes that “the heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech; night after night they display knowledge.” In Romans 1, Paul writes that the truth of God is made plain to the world through His creation: “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…”
When was the last time something in nature really took your breath away? A sunset? A meteor shower? A full moon? A wild horse? An enormous tree with leaves for shade? A thunderstorm? God has placed gorgeous things all around us that show us what an amazing God He is. Truly there is no artist in the world that compares to our God who created the world. Let’s keep that in mind as we look around us this week!
Your Turn:
What part of creation really amazes you? What do you think you can learn about God from the beauty of this creation?

Well, I think the most amazing place I’ve been to that really shows God’s creation would have to be a park near Hendersonville (I don’t remember the name). This park was special because it was filled with huge waterfalls that were so majestic and awe-inspiring. This really showed me how all-powerful God is because of his wonderfully designed world. What amazed me even more was the fact that waterfalls are only a tiny piece of God’s abounding creation. Also, the waterfalls showed how majestic God is and how only God could have thought of them.

Something that is amazing to me is a thunder storm. It really shows me that God is powerful. A thunder storm can bring cool lightning and thunder, which might scare people, but it reminds me that God is powerful. This is the creation that amazes me, and shows me more about God.

I see God a lot through his creation but the times i see him most are car rides at night thunderstorms and sunsets I really think that the world is a beautiful place and it’s never been hard for me to give God the credit. It really seems to be a way that God really gets to me!

the most amazing place i’ve ever been to is probably North Pack Lodge up in New Hampshire. whenever we go there it rains the whole time, but the crackling fire, the taping of rain drops on the leaves and the soggy moss under foot reminds me of the beautiful artwork that HE has done. HE’s better than Leonardo da Vinchi. it is amzing to think that HE spoke everything into being.

I agree with jordan, i love thunderstorms.i don’t really think about it all that often, but when i do,a part of creation that really amazes me are the people. there are so many out there, and yet no two people are the same, and that kind of gives me chills.
